About China Taste

China Taste is a cantonese restaurant in Asheville, North Carolina. It is listed at 202 State St A, Asheville, NC 28806, which places it among the local businesses of Asheville that residents and visitors turn to when they need this kind of service close by. Besides its main category, the business also describes itself as chinese restaurant, mandarin restaurant, so it may cover more than the name suggests.

In cities with a Chinatown, weekend mornings bring dim sum carts or order sheets, and lines form early at the most popular spots in Asheville; walk-ins are standard and reservations are uncommon outside large banquet restaurants. Regional labels matter: Cantonese, Sichuan, Hunan, Shanghainese and Taiwanese kitchens cook very differently, so a restaurant's stated region is a better guide to the food than the word "Chinese" alone. Some smaller restaurants in North Carolina are BYOB with no corkage fee; call ahead to confirm. A tip of 15-20% is customary for table service but not expected at counter-order takeout. Spice level, MSG and allergen questions are normal to ask before ordering, and most kitchens are happy to leave an ingredient out or tone down the heat if you mention it when ordering rather than after the food arrives.

Hours are published for 6 days a week. On most of those days it is open 11 am–10 pm. Note that it does not open on Monday. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. You can reach China Taste at (828) 252-7999; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions. More information is available on its website, chinatastenc.com.

Its Google rating is 4.1 out of 5 from 380 reviews, a solid but mixed picture; reading the most recent reviews will tell you what to expect.

Asheville is in North Carolina, in the Southeast, where summers are long, hot and humid, winters are mild, and afternoon thunderstorms and the hurricane season from June to November can change plans at short notice. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Asheville follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Just not very good. Wontons were gummy, spring rolls squishy. Rice was dry. Just not very good. Best thing I can say is I wasn't hungry after I ate it. Sorry, not a do-again for me.

China Taste is a hidden gem! It's not fancy or over priced; it's classic quality comfort take out. Their portions are the generous kind your mom would send you home with from family dinner. It's not uncommon for me to get 2 or 3 meals from the Singapore noodles and the leftovers taste just as good! Their one of the best tasting bargains in Asheville!

Called maybe 10 minutes before close and was told they close orders at 9:30. Didn't want to push too much but said I had just got off work and if there's any way they could make one order of sesame tofu for me I'd be there asap. Woman over the phone was so sweet and said it would be no problem. When I got there she was happy to see me and told me to rest up and have a good night and that I come so much so it's no problem. True neighborhood chinese place and definitely deserves any business it can get. Plus the tofu was killer.

Had heard good things about this place from 2 people I know so I got a takeout. So glad I did not drive over there with the reviews on the unsafeness of the location. No utensils, sauces, fortune cookie. Wanted to try the Moo Shu Pork cant get it anywhere like I had in a New York. Pancakes were so thin it would not even hold anything. That was the 1st bad sign. The fried rice I got with it was awful dry and bland. The vegetables and pork were good but the sauce was lacking something. So disappointed would not try anything else. Wish I looked more thoroughly at the reviews.
